About Our Wet Pour Rubber

Wet pour rubber is a common feature in schools and public playgrounds. The surfacing is made by bonding two layers of rubber to provide a surface that helps prevent injuries while children play. Australian Surfacing Supplies Pty Ltd is the premier supplier of high-quality PlayKote rubber to the Australian market. We combine our expertise in innovation to provide our clients with high-quality products. We have over 100 years of experience and thousands of surfacing projects in Australia and internationally.

Australian Surfacing Supplies Pty Ltd offers a range of EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber, Precoat SBR rubber, and associated products. We source our products from leading manufacturers worldwide. Our products can withstand the harsh Australian climate and are available in various vibrant colours. We have supplied wet-pour rubber for years and know which materials perform well. For this reason, you can rest assured that we will provide 100% customer satisfaction.

The Wet Pour Rubber Process

The installation of wet pour rubber surfacing is a two-part process. The first layer includes large granules installed to provide cushioning, and the second one involves colourful and smaller granules. The two layers are bound together using a polyurethane resin binder to provide a seamless rubber surface. Different types of rubber granules can be used to create a wet-pour rubber surface. The primary types of rubber used in Australia include EPDM, colour-coated SBR, and Rosehill TPV rubber granules.

Gezolan EPDM is our primary rubber product, made by the world’s leading synthetic granule manufacturer. The EPDM content is coloured for the granule’s full thickness, providing superior resistance to ultraviolet light, fading, and wear. We stock a range of cushion layer materials designed for use in the wetpour industry. Our rubber crumb is of excellent quality, clean of steel, textile fibre, and inert, providing a solution for surfacing that requires high impact absorbing capacity.

Wet pour rubber is commonly used for school playground flooring. However, it is also ideal for swimming pool surrounds, pathways, retail units, and gyms. You can install wet pour rubber directly onto a hard standing sub-base like concrete or tarmac. However, the surface must have a secure perimeter edge to bond to; timber and PC edging are excellent materials. The best thing about using wet-pour rubber is that you can incorporate various graphics and designs to make your surface colourful. You can add playnetics like audionetics, music balls, and story balls to provide a vibrant and interactive playground.

The thickness of wet pour rubber determines the fall height required around children’s play equipment or areas with a risk of falling. Wet pour rubber requires minimal maintenance. Regular brushing and debris removal are enough to keep your playground clean and long-lasting. However, you need power washing and algaecide applications for older surfaces.
